MIGRATION:

  • Acquire And Set Up Domain
  • Create New Database For New Location
  • Create New User
  • Copy Site And Database
  • Move Both The Site’s Data And MySQL Database
    ~Migration plugins: Duplicator, UpdraftPlus, and WP Migrate DB Pro
  • Point Domain To New Directory
  • Check Site Display
  • Test Links And Pages
  • SSL Certificate for Secure Payments

PREPARE FOR LAUNCH:

  • Activate Site Caching
    ~Solutions include WP Super Cache, W3 Total Cache and
    WP Rocket.
  • Connect To CDN (Solution: Photon)
  • INSPECT ROBOTS.TXT
    If you have set up a robots.txt file, make sure to delete or reconfigure it so that search engines aren’t kept out of the live site.

CLEAN UP:

  • Old, Unneeded Files
  • Old Databases
  • Old Subdomains
  • Other

BACKUP AND SECURITY:

  • Install Anti-Spam Plugin: Akismet or Antispam Bee
  • Implement Login Protection Plugin: Login Lockdown
  • Set up A Backup Solution: Godaddy or other
  • Create First Backup
  • Verify Backups Saving To New Location
  • Update Admin Password in SAFE place (We use a spreadsheet called SAFELOCK for our clients)
